You're welcome to choose how you spend (or don't spend) your money. I subcontract my events through Hell Survivors for a negotiated fee per head. Our business end of it falls under Hell Survivors in all aspects of insurance and licensing (which is why we work with them, in addition to the field), which allows us to put out games at cheaper cost, since HS absorbs the annual bill of insurance, taxes, and licenses mainly off the backs of paintballers.
It's about as legitimate as you can get, without me needlessly spending $150 to start up an LLC myself. PayPal's buyer protection program is pretty spot on if you have concerns, and our terms of payment and refunding are clearly posted. I've fought and won cases through PayPal from people that have said they'll come, paid, and backed out 24 hours prior after all props and field fees were well paid off in advance.
Regardless, the time for prepay is well past. If you're coming out I'd advise bringing either set of cammies for sure. I think right now we've got something like 60 people already paid in, and we're expecting another 40-50 at the door, so I have no idea of knowing which side is going to need more players.
